Minimum cam length

The minimum cam length results from the signal processing time tSig and the maximum speed at which the cam is passed.

The signal processing time is calculated as follows:

tSig = filter F_DI + 6 ms

tSig

=

Signal processing duration

[tSig] = s

Filter F_DI

=

input filter time parameter (8704.2)

[Filter F_DI] = s

The minimum cam length is calculated as follows:

lN_min = 2 × tSig × vN_max

lN_min

=

Minimum cam length

[lN_min] = mm

tSig

=

Signal processing duration

[tSig] = s

vN_max

=

Maximum speed at which the cam is passed

[vN_max] = m s-1

This results in a minimum cam length of 62 mm with the default value of the input filter time (8704.2) of 25 ms and a maximum speed of 1000 mm s-1.

INFORMATION

If the position accuracy is greater than half the minimum cam length, the minimum cam length must be increased by twice the position accuracy.
The position tolerance must be parameterized greater than the position accuracy of encoder 2.
