Reference travel (homing)
Here you will find information on how the function module searches for the reference position. The reference position is also called the "basic position," "starting position" or "home position". Reference travel refers to an initial run of an axis in which the correct actual position is determined using a reference signal. This process is referred to as "referencing," "reference travel" or "homing." When referencing, you can define the speed, acceleration, deceleration and type of referencing. The OSS21C function module supports the following types of referencing:
- Referencing using a referencing switch
- Referencing to the current position
Depending on the setting for "0x8F00-01 – Encoder feedback configuration", the function module operates in open-loop or closed-loop positioning mode. A distinction is made between the following encoder configurations:
- Open loop
- Pseudo closed loop
- Closed loop – Field-oriented control (FOC)
