Requirements for the barcode encoder
If jumps in position are present in the code tape used, the following restrictions apply:
- The barcode encoder is used for determining the "position" process value:
- In the event of a position jump, the safety sub-functions SOS, SS2, SDI, SLI, SLP, and SCA cannot be used.
- The barcode encoder is used for determining the "speed" process value:
- In the case of position jumps, the calculated speed is incorrect and can lead to false tripping of the safety sub-functions or to a critical fault.
- Safe position:
- The raw position or the absolute position of the encoder should be used.
- Safe speed:
- The safe speed is not determined correctly in the event of position jumps. The range size depends on the speed filter time and the maximum possible speed.
