Discharging using the braking resistor
As an alternative to discharging using a discharge unit, you can discharge the MOVI-DPS® storage bundles via a braking resistor. For additional information, refer to the "MOVIDRIVE® modular" product manual.
- Discharge the MOVI-DPS® storage bundle according to the specifications in the "MOVIDRIVE® modular" product manual.
- Immediately after discharge, switch off the power supply for all devices present in the system.
- Use a suitable measuring device to measure the voltage of the MOVI-DPS® storage bundle at the two poles (ES+ and ES-). Measure the voltages ES+ against PE and ES- against PE. If all measured voltages are < 2 V the MOVI-DPS® storage bundle is discharged.
- Short-circuit the MOVI-DPS® storage bundle immediately after discharge. To do so, plug the short-circuit connector into the discharge connection socket. To ensure the short circuit, the discharge fuse must always be set to ON.
- Remove the short-circuit connector before restarting.
Alternatively, you can create the short circuit with an insulated wire (minimum cross section 1.5 mm2).
