Supply through frequency inverter
Combining the brake system with suitable frequency inverters provides additional connection options in which the frequency inverter itself serves as the voltage source.
For spring-loaded brakes with a dual-coil system from SEW-EURODRIVE, the certified safe SBM../BST.. brake control units are available for applications with increased safety technology requirements. These are connected directly to the DC link of the frequency inverter and generate a clocked DC voltage to supply the brake using pulse width modulation.
With regard to rapid excitation, holding‑current reduction, and a functional control input, they operate in the same way as the BMK series control cabinet units for AC supply installations.
Thanks to their certified, safety-related design and the additional safe control input, they can be optimally integrated into safety concepts and safely disconnect the brake supply.
In combination with the inverter families of the MOVIAXIS® (MXA.) and MOVIDRIVE® modular (MDA. and MDD.) product lines, the holding brakes of the BK.. series can be supplied directly via the brake output of the frequency inverter. The frequency inverter serves as control and protection circuit. This reduces the effort involved in installing the brake, since neither a local DC voltage source nor additional switching or protective elements are required.
