For the synchronous servomotors, SEW‑EURODRIVE has designed a modular brake system that can be scaled precisely to the requirements of the application.
The BK.., BKB.., BP.., BR.., BY.. and BZ.. series of electromechanical brakes can be selected for applications in which it is necessary to mechanically stop or hold the drive.
With inverter-operated motors, it is assumed that the brake will primarily be used for holding when in the idle state. In this context, we refer to the brake as a "holding brake". Brake application from a speed only takes place in the event of emergency stop braking (non-controlled stopping of the drive, comparable with stop category 0 in accordance with EN 60204‑1). Normally, the brake is activated after controlled stopping (stop category 1 in accordance with EN 60204‑1) at speeds of < 20 min-1.
