Description
The modules of the axis system require an external 24-V voltage supply for the electronics and the DC 24 V brakes. The voltage supply must meet the protective extra-low voltage according to PELV.
For the 24-V voltage supply, the MDS90A.. switched-mode power supply modules or external DC 24 V switched-mode power supplies from other manufacturers can be used.
The DC 24 V supply voltage can be connected as follows:
- Via the integrated DC 24 V connection X5, when using an MDS90A.. switched-mode power supply module
- Via cable lugs connecting to the DC 24 V connection X5, when using an external DC 24 V switched-mode power supply
- Via the connection of terminal X5_A to the MDM90A master module, when using an MDM90A master module in combination with an external switched-mode power supply
For further information, refer to chapter Connection examples for the DC 24 V supply voltage.
The permitted current carrying capacity of the DC 24 V connection X5 is 40 A when using an external 24-V switched-mode power supply. The external DC 24 V supply must be fused with a 40-A fuse.
INFORMATION

Observe the applicable installation specifications for fusing the 24 V supply.
The permitted current carrying capacity of the DC 24 V connection X5 is 45 A when using MDS90A.. switched-mode power supply modules. Separate fusing is not required because it is integrated in the MDS90A.. switched-mode power supply module.
When using MDL91A.. coupling modules, a DC-26.4-V voltage supply is required. The required DC-26.4-V voltage can be supplied by the MDS90A.. switched-mode power supply modules.
