Extended storage

DANGER

Uncovered power connections.
Severe or fatal injuries due to electric shock.
- Attach the touch guards to the modules; see chapter Installing touch guard.
- Attach the closing covers correctly; see chapter Insert closing cover in touch guards.
- Never start up the device unless touch guards and closing covers have been installed.
The following table shows the intervals and measures that are relevant for an extended storage of the modules. For all other modules, no measures are required.
Modules | Interval: every 2 years |
|---|---|
MDP90A-0100-C00 | Line connections: Connect devices to line voltage for 5 minutes. |
MDC90A-0120.. | Line connections: Connect devices to line voltage for 5 minutes. |
MDE90A.. | No measures required |
Measures in the event of omitted maintenance
In the event of omitted measures, SEW-EURODRIVE recommends that you slowly increase the line voltage up to the maximum voltage. This can be done, for example, using a variable transformer whose output voltage is set according to the following overview. Following this regeneration, the device can be used immediately or put back into storage.
Line voltage increase in stages. The following graduations are recommended for AC 400/500 V devices:
- Stage 1: AC 0 – 350 V within a few seconds
- Stage 2: AC 350 V for 15 minutes
- Stage 3: AC 420 V for 15 minutes
- Stage 4: AC 500 V for 1 hour
Measures in the event of omitted maintenance for MDC90A.. and MDC92A..
The MDC90A-0120.. capacitor module and the MDC92A.. energy storage modules use electrolytic capacitors that are subject to aging effects when de-energized. This effect can lead to damage to the electrolytic capacitors if the device is stored at temperatures exceeding 35 °C and then operated directly at its nominal voltage.
In this case, SEW-EURODRIVE recommends that you slowly increase the operating voltage up to the maximum voltage. You can do so, for example, using local setpoints via the FCB55 "Voltage mode" of MDP92A.. or MDE90A.. The setpoints must be set in accordance with the following overview when doing this.
DC link voltage or operating voltage of MDC90A.. or MDC92A.. with the following graduation:
- Stage 1: 0 V to DC 450 V, increase in steps of 150 V.
- Keep the voltage constant for at least 2 minutes after each step.
- Stage 2: DC 450 V to 650 V, increase in steps of 100 V.
- Keep the voltage constant for at least 6 minutes after each step.
- Stage 3: DC 650 V to 800 V, increase in steps of 50 V.
- Keep the voltage constant for at least 6 minutes after each step.
- Stage 4: Maintain DC 800 V for 1 hour.
After this regeneration, also known as forming, the device can be used immediately or put back into storage.
