Description

  • The SBM safe brake module has a two-channel safe digital input that is connected to X5504 in parallel with the STO on a device without the MOVISAFE® CS..A safety option. A safety relay connected to X5504 activates the safe state of the SBM when the safe digital input is disconnected. A safety relay is any signal source that generates an input signal within the scope of the specification of the safe digital input. The safe digital input is connected internally in the device to one of the two safe digital outputs of the safety option.
  • The disconnection of the safe digital input reliably prevents any control of the power semiconductors in the SBM safe brake module. As a result, the power supply required to release the connected brake is safely interrupted. The brake is or remains applied although the voltage supply is still present at the SBM.
  • The SBM safe brake module also features a digital input DB00 for functional control of the brake. The digital input DB00 is connected internally to the brake control and is not allowed to be used for safe disconnection of the brake. The safe digital input has a higher priority than DB00. This means that the safe state is activated on the SBM whenever the safe digital input is switched off, regardless of the switching state of DB00.
