CiA402 device profile
The CiA402 device profile for controlling inverters has established itself in plants with individual motion control functions that are calculated in an external higher-level PLC.
The CiA402 device profile was developed by the "CAN in Automation" organization especially for servo drives. The device profile defines the structure of the object list, functionalities assigned to the individual objects and the state machine (states, error behavior, state transitions). In addition, manufacturer-specific functions and setting options can also be defined.
For control via CiA402, the inverters can be connected directly to the PLC via the standardized fieldbus interface. This means integration into the PLC can be achieved particularly quickly and easily, and does not require extensive conversion work.
Inverters from SEW-EURODRIVE with CiA402 device profile are started up as a motion axis on a PLC. For applications with requirements on functional safety, the MOVISAFE® CS..A safety cards are used. They are controlled via the integrated digital inputs and outputs or via safe communication using Safety over EtherCAT® (FSoE).
