Supply from AC voltage supply systems (AC supply)
This supply concept has been used for gearmotors for many years, has been tried and tested in the field of mechanical engineering and plant engineering, and is used in spring-loaded brakes with increased emergency-stop energy capacity.
In this case, a brake control is used that rectifies the AC voltage of the local supply and ensures rapid brake release by means of the proven dual‑coil system.
Connection topologies with AC supply and control-cabinet rectifiers provide the following application benefits:
- Connection to the local low-voltage supply without additional power supplies
- High torque density of the brake and high wear allowance can be achieved simultaneously
- Energy-efficient coil design due to the two-coil system from SEW‑EURODRIVE with high-speed excitation and reduction in holding current
- Suitable for cable lengths > 100 m due to low holding currents
- Brake controls with integrated high-performance varistor protection circuit
- Additional heating functionality using BMH. brake control for low-temperature applications
Drives of the CM3../BZ.. and ECM3C/BZ.. series with MOVILINK® DDI digital interface can alternatively be operated with the integrated BG1Z brake control in a wide voltage range of AC 200 – 500 V and therefore offer special advantages:
- Increased energy savings through optimized reduction in holding current
- Use of a standardized brake design for nearly all conventional AC voltage supply networks, while allowing long cable lengths
- Integrated sensorless monitoring of switching state and wear
