The Power and Energy Solutions energy storage systems (ESS) consist of 6 to 8 double-layer capacitor modules (DSK modules) from LS Materials that are connected in series and are delivered fully wired in a control cabinet housing with the necessary connection and monitoring technology. The energy storage systems are used exclusively as a component of a comprehensive drive solution in the "Power and Energy Solutions" series. Using the Power and Energy Solutions energy storage systems ensures a significant reduction of power peaks in your application. Any generated recuperation energy can be temporarily stored and re-used. As a result, the energy consumption of your application is reduced. Commonly used braking resistors can be reduced in size or completely omitted. Due to the reduction of power peaks, the supply infrastructure can be dimensioned more cost-effectively. High-performance applications can also be operated in weak supply systems. Typical applications for energy storage systems are hoists and storage/retrieval systems as they have high power peaks and a high degree of recuperation energy.
In addition to the Power and Energy Solutions energy storage systems with DSK modules from LS Materials that are described in this documentation, SEW-EURODRIVE also offers smaller-sized energy storage systems with internally produced DSK modules.
