Power and Energy Solutions
Reduce the power peaks from your supply system by up to a factor of 10 without restricting the performance of the system. But how does it work? Intelligently connected energy storage units supply almost any peak power required by your drive inverters. With the clever power and energy management from Power and Energy Solutions, you can increase the energy efficiency and availability of your system. This is made possible by MOVIDRIVE® modular application inverters in combination with energy storage units based on electrolytic capacitors and supercapacitors. Our Power and Energy Solutions offer you the following functions:
Reduction of power peaks from the grid
The use of energy storage units in the DC link means that most of the required peak power is supplied by the energy storage units. This leads to considerable cost savings both in the complete electrical installation and the control cabinet.
Here is an example: Instead of 75 mm2, the cross section of a supply system cable for a 75 kW system needs to be just 6 mm2. This not only results in smaller cable cross sections, but also means that smaller line connection components such as transformers, contactors, and fuses can be used.
Uninterrupted system operation in the event of a power failure
Together with the rotational energy of the drives, the energy storage unit serves as an uninterruptible power supply for your system. In the event of a power failure, this supplies power for the drives, motor brakes, and 24-V consumers, such as controllers. This allows you to bridge power failures and avoid high follow-up costs caused by crashes, for instance.
Reduced harmonic load in the supply system
The use of an energy storage unit means that the system's supply system consumption is significantly lower and continuous. Compared to alternative solutions, this results in a significantly lower harmonic load and EMC load on the supply system.
Performance and energy measurement data for ISO 50001 energy management systems
The power supply module measures the power consumption from the supply system and provides this data. It can be integrated into ISO 50001 energy management systems.
Reduction of energy costs thanks to energy storage units in the DC link
The energy from regenerative operating states is stored in the energy storage unit and re-used for the next motor operation. This results in energy savings of up to 30%, depending on the system. There is no need to use a braking resistor.
Connection to external DC supply systems
The DC link can be connected to external DC supply systems or DC sources via a DC/DC converter module. The full DC link voltage is available even with low or fluctuating supply voltage.
