Overview of the safety options

There are 4 configurable safety options for the device:

  • MOVISAFE® CSO safety option
  • The STO safety sub-function is available via terminals with the MOVISAFE® CSO safety option.
  • MOVISAFE® CSB safety option
    • 4 safe digital inputs
  • The STO and SS1-t safety sub-functions are available via safe communication and safe digital inputs with the MOVISAFE® CSB safety option.
  • MOVISAFE® CSL safety option
    • 4 safe digital inputs
    • 1 safe two-channel digital output
  • The SBC, STO and SS1-t safety sub-functions are available via safe communication and safe digital inputs with the MOVISAFE® CSL safety option. For example, the SLS and SDI safety sub-functions are available via the EI7C FS built-in encoder for motion monitoring.
  • MOVISAFE® CSS safety option
    • 4 safe digital inputs
    • 1 safe two-channel digital output
  • The MOVISAFE® CSS safety option provides the SBC, STO and SS1-t safety sub-functions. When using a safe motor encoder with MOVILINK® DDI, the SS1-r, SS2, SOS, SLS, SSM, SLA and SDI safety sub-functions are available for motion monitoring. The safe EI7C FS built-in encoder is also supported. The safety sub-functions can be controlled via safe communication and safe digital inputs.

The PROFIsafe, Safety over EtherCAT®, and CIP Safety™ profiles are available for safe communication.

The safety technology of the MOVISAFE® CSO/CSB/CSL/CSS safety options described below has been developed and tested according to the following safety requirements:

  • SIL 2 according to EN 61800-5-2, EN 61508
  • PL d according to EN ISO 13849-1

This was certified by TÜV Rheinland. A copy of the TÜV certificate can be requested from SEW‑EURODRIVE.
