Application
For the application, 3 different ways for determining the position are available.
- Absolute position with limited travel distance
- Relative position
- Modulo applications
Absolute position with limited travel distance
The travel distance is physically limited on both sides. The absolute position in user units is unique on the travel path. If a stored reference offset is available without errors after a voltage failure in the safety option, the encoder is referenced immediately. The absolute position is recalculated from the reference offset and the current raw encoder value. If there is no reference offset, only a relative position is calculated until the next referencing.
Relative position
The position has no fixed reference to the system position. This means that no safety sub-functions based on an absolute position (such as SLP, SCA) can be used in this application.
Modulo applications
The travel path is not physically limited, the drives can travel as far as required. This means that after moving around the modulo range once or several times, the system is back in the same position.
