Encoder evaluation of the CSS..A safety option

The CSS..A safety option supports 1-encoder concepts with a safe encoder. The encoder used is deemed a safe encoder if the following conditions are met:

• The encoder must meet the required safety requirements as per EN ISO 13849‑1 and EN 62061.
• The encoder must be approved for the use of speed/position-dependent safety sub-functions.

The encoder that is used is selected in Assist CS.. in the "Encoder" dialog via the "Encoder type" drop-down list. All of the required encoder configurations are taken over. The parameter is indicated with an "i" if the encoder selection deviates from the configured motor encoder in the drive train.
