PROFIsafe

The PROFIsafe protocol can be used for safe applications up to SIL3 in accordance with IEC 61508/IEC 62061 or PL "e"/category 4 in accordance with ISO 13849. PROFIsafe is defined in the IEC 61784‑3‑3 standard. PROFIsafe is independent of the communication method and provides cost-effective and flexible functional safety. It covers the entire communication path from the sensor via the controller to the actuator and integrates safety and standard communication in one cable (black channel principle).
