Topology

EtherCAT^® uses Ethernet as the transmission medium. Only EtherCAT^® components are allowed to be used in an EtherCAT^® network.

An EtherCAT^® network is always comprised of one master and any number of slaves. Each slave has one "IN" and one "OUT" connection.

Note the following information for the connection:

• Use shielded network cables (at least Cat 5 cable) for connection according to your application.
• The maximum line length between 2 stations is 100 m.
• It is not possible to use hubs and switches.
