When using an MDP90A power supply module in conjunction with an MDE90A DC/DC converter module

The options for thermal monitoring of the braking resistor with the MDP90A power supply module can be found in the MOVIDRIVE® modular product manual.

When the thermal monitoring is triggered, the MDP90A power supply module disconnects the connection to the grid. The MDP90A power supply module then signals critical fault E47.3 to all module bus stations including the MDE90A, and they react to this. The MDE90A inhibits the output stage, meaning that no more energy can flow from the energy storage unit to the DC link.

Note that the EtherCAT® cabling specifications must be adhered to in order to ensure that the braking resistor is protected. For more information, see chapter EnergyMode.

The MDP90A power supply module with braking resistor must be connected to a 24 V switched-mode power supply module with a line connection in order to ensure that the braking resistor is protected. The AC supply must be permanently present, therefore SEW-EURODRIVE recommends monitoring the AC supply. If the MDS90A switched-mode power supply module is used, the "AC-Available" signal is available for it.
