Notes on the project planning procedure

There is no distinction between brake and safety brake within the processes. Accordingly, the defined rules apply equally to both designs. In specific cases where different limit values apply, this is marked in the relevant tables.

The following project planning procedures are shown together:

  • BE.. and BE.H brake as a holding brake with emergency stop characteristics. This procedure is used in controlled applications (drive is operated on a frequency inverter).
  • BE.. safety brake as a holding brake with emergency stop characteristics. This procedure must be used in controlled applications (drive is operated on a frequency inverter) with functional safety.

The process always makes reference to a gearmotor. The design of motors without a gear unit follows the same procedure, except that gear-unit‑specific limits and checks are not considered or performed. Strength limit values for each output design of the motors can be requested from SEW‑EURODRIVE.
