General description

BE.. brakes of SEW‑EURODRIVE are DC-operated electromagnetic disk brakes. They open electrically and brake using spring force. The brake is installed on the B-side and integrated into the motor. The advantage is that brakemotors of SEW‑EURODRIVE are very short and robust. Furthermore, SEW‑EURODRIVE brakemotors are especially low-noise. This means they are especially suited for environments sensitive to noise.

The brake coil can be adapted to different connection voltages. It is powered via a brake control which is either placed in the terminal box of the motor or in the control cabinet.

The brake is applied if the current supply is interrupted. It is therefore suitable for basic safety requirements in travel and lifting applications (e.g., according to EN 115).

Due to the high overload capacity during emergency stops, the BE.. brake is ideally suited as a holding brake in controlled applications. The working capacity is available for emergency stop braking operations.

The BE.H holding brake with increased braking torque is specially designed for motors that are only approved for inverter operation. These include the DR2C.. and DR2L.. motor types . These motors have a higher power density. The BE.H brakes are adapted to their power rating with regard to the braking torque.

Motors with BE.. brake can be used in ambient temperature ranges of -40 °C to +100 °C. They can be delivered in degrees of protection IP54, IP55, IP65, and IP66.
