Brake control/safe brake control

WARNING

A faulty brake control connection and defective brake switching times can lead to undesired movement of the drive. An axis that is loaded with gravitational force (such as a hoist) may fall down.
Severe or fatal injuries.
  • The brake release and application time that is set in the device or brake test must correspond to the respective brake.

The brake test requires control of the brake via a brake rectifier. During the startup of the device in the AS1 drive train with brake, select the Brake control DB00 connection type. Other selection options such as MOVILINK® DDI are not compatible with the brake test.

To start up the brake test, activate the SBC function in the "Assist CS..A" parameterization tool. When the SBC function is activated, the device also internally forwards the functional brake control (DB00) via the CS..A safety option to the F-DO.. safe digital output which is set using the SBC function.

Use a suitable safe brake control such as the SBM safe brake module in the safe brake system to interrupt the energy supply to the brake so that the brake is switched off in a safety-related way. For further information, refer to chapter System description.

The available brake controls with a DC 24 V control input from SEW-EURODRIVE can be used in a brake system without safety technology relevance that has been extended with a brake test. Brake control then takes place exclusively via the assigned F-DO.

If other brakes or drives are present in a multi-axis system and are mechanically coupled to the drive to be tested, these brakes must be released and the drives must be torque-free or follow the drive under test synchronously.
