Use is required under the following circumstances:

• Unit load I_N > 100%
• Supply system inductances < 100 µH per phase
• Operation of several units that are switched simultaneously The line choke limits overvoltages caused by the switching.

Use is optional in the following instances:

• Reduction of the supply system current harmonics
• To support overvoltage protection

• Connecting several single-phase inverters on a three-phase line choke
