Editing devices
For identification, assignment, and data analysis by higher-level systems, specific metadata must be assigned to the devices. This assignment is done by editing the devices detected during the device scan.
Proceed as follows to edit a device:
- Open the "Devices" tab.
- In the list of devices, click [Edit] next to the device you want to edit.
- The dialog window "Device: Device name" appears.
- The device can be edited using the following setting fields:

Device identification | Device identification read out during the device scan |
Serial number | Unique identifier of the device read out during the device scan. The serial number is included in the recorded data so that the data can be uniquely assigned to a device. |
Device route | Device route via engineering port that is read out during the device scan. |

Functional location | Functional location assigned to the device. The available options depend on which mode is set in the "Settings" menu in the Identifiers tab in the "Functional location" section. The functional location can only be edited here directly in the "Free text" mode. |
