Project planning procedure

The following configuration processes are jointly presented in the Dimensioning process for BK.., BKB.., BP.., BR.., BY.., or BZ.. brakes:

• Brake BK.., BKB.., BP.., BR.., BY.., BZ.. as a holding brake with emergency-stop characteristics (including for explosion-protected drives). This procedure must be used in controlled applications.
• Safety brake BY..or BZ.. as a holding brake with emergency-stop characteristics (including for explosion-protected drives). This procedure must be used in controlled applications with functional safety.

The process described always makes reference to a gearmotor. The design of motors without gear units is performed analogously, with the difference being that limit values and checks specific to the gear unit are not taken into account or performed. Strength limit values for each output design of the motors can be requested from SEW‑EURODRIVE.
