More axes
For axes that are not gravity-loaded, e.g. horizontal drives with a horizontal direction of movement, a comparable recommendation has not been made thus far in the IFA Report or by other institutions. SEW‑EURODRIVE therefore recommends a test torque related to the nominal braking torque MB. This corresponds to the maximum static torque that the brake must be able to hold.
The maximum test torque Mtest can be determined based on the nominal braking torque MB indicated on the motor nameplate or according to the technical data in the documentation.
Brake | Maximum test torque | |
|---|---|---|
Determination via MB on the motor nameplate | Determination via characteristic values in the documentation | |
BE.. | Mtest = 0.6 × MB | Mtest = 0.6 × MB |
Example for a BE5 brake
Determining the maximum test torque for the BE5 brake with a nominal braking torque of 40 Nm.
