Multi-point synchronization

For the optimization of power transmission at the junctions of transmission paths, TES31A decentralized supply units of the same output frequency can be synchronized with each other.

The "multi-point synchronization" device function is available for all devices.

Additional connection cables are required for synchronization. For further information on electrical installation, refer to chapter Cabling for multi-point synchronization.

"Multi-point synchronization" device function

In synchronization mode, one supply unit acts as the MP master. One or more supply units act as an MP slave. The MP master transfers the synchronization signal to the MP slaves via the synchronization cable. Each unit works with its own individually configured setpoint.

The following points must be observed:

  • There is only one MP master in the synchronization network.
  • All synchronization stations (MP master and MP slaves) must have the same frequency.
  • The frequency mode must be set the same for all synchronization stations (MP master and MP slaves), see chapter "Setpoint selection" in the " MOVITRANS® line TES31A Decentralized Supply Unit" operating instructions.

Fault response for "multi-point synchronization"

Please note the following for "Sync timeout response" monitoring:

  • The setting cannot be activated on the MP master.
  • The setting can be freely parameterized on the MP slave.

MP master

The MP master does not carry out "Sync timeout response" monitoring.

MP slave

In synchronization mode, one or several supply unit(s) act as the MP slave. The synchronization of inhibited or enabled supply units starts as soon as the MP master sends the synchronization signal: Status bit 6 (sync signal active) in the status word of the MP master and the MP slaves is set to "1". If a MP slave receives a faulty synchronization signal, or none at all, the device executes the set fault response.

If the "Inhibit output stage" fault response is set for the "Sync timeout response", the MP slaves are not enabled until the synchronization signal is received.

The additional parameter "Sync phase angle" can be edited. The "180°" setting allows the current direction to be inverted if the cabling at the junction is unfavorable. For further information, refer to chapter Sync phase angle in °.
