Overview

The MOVILINK® DDI interface requires a coaxial cable for data transmission between the motor and the inverter. Depending on the motor cable cross-section that is required, the coaxial cable is in the form of a hybrid cable (up to 10 mm2) or in separate cables (> 10 mm2).

The coaxial cable requires a FAKRA connector at the inverter and motor sides. SEW‑EURODRIVE provides prefabricated cables with connectors already fitted. Rolls of bulk cable are also available, whereby the connectors must be fitted by the customer. The FAKRA connectors can be assembled using the "MOVILINK® DDI Tool Set 1".

Single-cable technology up to 10 mm2

Prefabricated hybrid cables for motors with MOVILINK® DDI interface are structured as follows:

  • 1 conductor for the PE connection
  • 3 conductors for controlling the motor
  • 4 conductors for controlling the brake
  • 1 coaxial cable for MOVILINK® DDI

With this universal hybrid cable, all variants of the brake can be controlled.

Multi-cable technology larger than 10 mm2

For cross sections larger than 10 mm2, the coaxial cable is routed separately in a cable. Individual coaxial cables are available as prefabricated cables.

Six plugging positions are available.

The coaxial cable at the motor side is always connected using an M23 connector.

Number of plugging positions

The coaxial technology of MOVILINK® DDI allows for multiple plugging positions. Up to 4 plugging positions can be implemented, whereby merely plugging positions with an M23 or M40 plug connector are counted. The plugging positions of the FAKRA plug connector within the motor in the terminal box, on the encoder module, or on the inverter itself are not counted.

Examples for the numbering system of the plugging positions:

  • Cable from MOVIDRIVE® to DRN.. motor with KD1 (M23 plug connector): 1 plugging position
  • Cable from MOVIMOT® flexible to M23 for DRN.. motor with KD1 (M23 plug connector): 2 plugging positions
  • Cable from MOVIDRIVE® to DRN.. motor with KD1 (M23 plug connector) connected to an extension cable M23 to M23: 2 plugging positions
  • Cable from MOVIMOT® flexible with M23 to DRN.. motor with KD1 (M23 plug connector) connected to an extension cable M23 to M23: 3 plugging positions
  • Cable from MOVIDRIVE® to DRN.. with KD (hybrid cable gland without connector): 0 plugging positions
Interlocking of the plug connectors

MOVILINK® DDI cables with plug connectors are delivered with quick-lock SpeedTec plug connectors as standard. Note that this interlocking must be completely closed to achieve interference-free signal transmission via MOVILINK® DDI.
