TRIPOD with 3 rotary axes:
- Joint axes 1 to 3: In combination, they allow translational motion of the tool (XYZ). The motion of a drive cannot be clearly assigned to the motion of a Cartesian axis. The joint axes are arranged at an offset of 120° about the Z-axis, counterclockwise in plan view, with joint axis 1 on the X-axis.

TRIPOD with 4 rotary axes:
- Joint axes 1 to 3: In combination, they allow translational motion of the tool (XYZ). The motion of a drive cannot be clearly assigned to the motion of a Cartesian axis.
- Joint axis 4: Rotates the tool around the wrist axis (parallel to the Z axis).

- Joint axis 4: Rotates the tool in the wrist around the Z-axis.
- Joint axis 5: Rotates the tool in the wrist around the Y-axis.
