Double device
A master according to AS‑Interface specification version V 3.0, Rev. 2 with master profile M4 is required to control the double device.
The double device combines 2 independent devices in one drive. In this setup, the A device is used for drive control, while the B device can read and write the inverter parameters in an independent and simultaneous manner.
In the case of the A device, 2 profiles can be set for control purposes:
- 4 DI/4 DO – For simple functions and a fast cycle time
- 8 DI/8 DO – For extended control options but a slower cycle time
- The 8 DI/8 DO profile is designed for analog sensors. SEW‑EURODRIVE uses this profile to transmit 8 bits of digital control information and status information. The 8 bits of data are usually mapped in the PLC in the data modules for analog data (I/O range).
As one drive occupies 2 device addresses, up to 31 drives (62 device addresses) can be integrated into an AS‑Interface network.
At the time of delivery, an SEW‑EURODRIVE inverter has the address 0 and the profile of the A device. Only after a numeric address has been assigned will both devices be visible on the network with this numeric address and the respective extended address "A" (profile S‑7.A.7. or profile S-7.A.A) and "B" (profile S‑7.A.7.5). This prevents both devices from being connected to the network with address 0 at the same time and, as a result, prevents a conflict from occurring when addressing via the master.
