Explanation

The unexpected behavior for the user can always occur if the effect of a large acceleration or deceleration is to be reversed with a small jerk. Two scenarios can be distinguished:

  • Scenario 1: In a braking phase, a sudden acceleration is to occur (examples 1 to 3)
  • Scenario 2: In an acceleration phase, the brake is to be applied suddenly (example 4).

Especially in scenario 1, it can happen that the axis reverses unexpectedly although the user controls the axis in such a way that it should actually continue to move in the original direction, as the two cases described below and the corresponding diagrams show.

  • Case 1: The speed is positive and the acceleration is negative (left diagram)
  • Case 2: The speed is negative and the acceleration is positive (right diagram)

In both cases, the movement reserves at the time indicated by the vertical line.
