Installing a new visualization version

When installing a new version of the visualization, licensing must be performed again. An already installed version of the visualization is not overwritten or changed when a new version is installed. The different versions can exist in parallel.

Proceed as follows to install:

  1. Open the IEC Editor and establish a communication link between the engineering PC and the visualization device.
  2. Open the Properties tab of the visualization device by double-clicking the visualization device in the device tree and open the "Files" tab which it contains.
  3. Copy the hardware binding file of the currently used version into the "data" directory of the new version. This step is only required for HWID licensing. If the hardware binding file is no longer available, it is possible to restore it or create a new one. See chapter HWID licensing.
  4. Copy the license file of the currently used version into the "data" directory of the new version.
  5. Switch to the "PLC Shell" tab.
  6. Run the following command to install the HW binding file. (Replace *.xml with the file name of the downloaded HW binding file). This step is only required for HWID licensing.
    • sewlicmgr install HwBinding *.xml
  7. Run the following command to install the license file. (Replace *.sewlicensefile with the file name of the downloaded license file)
    • sewlicmgr install LicenseFile *.sewlicensefile
  8. Restart the visualization.
  9. Open the "PLC Shell" tab in the IEC Editor and run the following commands to check whether the activated license is present.
    • sewlicmgr list Licenses
    • sewlicmgr info
