Structure

The oil heater consists of 2 main parts:

  1. Heating element in the oil sump (oil heater) with terminal box
  2. Thermostat with integrated temperature probe

[1] Oil heater

[2] Thermostat with integrated temperature probe

Notes on the use of heating elements:

Complete immersion required:

To avoid damage, the heating elements must be completely immersed in the oil sump.

Thermostat position:

The position of the thermostat varies depending on the gear unit design and mounting position.

Possible applications and restrictions:

The number and possible use of heating elements depend on the following factors, among others.

In certain mounting positions and with limited mounting space, there may be restrictions concerning the combination with other accessory options. Contact SEW-EURODRIVE in such cases.

  • Size
  • Mounting position
  • End gear position
  • Lubrication type

Standard equipment depending on size:

  • One heating element as standard:
  • Sizes 100, 110, 130, 150, 170, 190, 210, 230, 250, 270, 280, 300, 320
  • Two heating elements as standard:
  • Sizes 120, 140, 160, 180, 200, 220, 240, 260, 290, 310

Operation and heating time:

To keep the gear unit startup temperature, the thermostat can be continuously supplied with current. The heating process can take several hours.

Dimensions of the heating elements:

Refer to chapter Oil heater /OH for the dimensions of the heating elements.
