Torque arm /T

An optional torque arm is available for shaft-mounted gear units to support the reaction torque (for dimensions, see chapter Torque arm /T–HU). The torque arm can absorb both tensile and compressive loads.

Its length can be set within a certain range.

The torque arm consists of a yoke head with bolt [1], a stud bolt [2], a maintenance-free joint head [3], and a yoke plate with bolt [4]. The design with joint head allows the compensation of mounting tolerances and offsets occurring during operation. This avoids constraining forces on the output shaft.

To keep the bending moments on the machine shaft as low as possible, the torque arm must always be mounted on the side of the driven machine.

The torque arm can be mounted on the top or bottom of the gear unit.

As standard, the fan design for X.K.. gear units cannot be combined with a torque arm because the fan guard is mounted to the attachment point of the torque arm. Contact SEW‑EURODRIVE.
