Drywell sealing system
Vertical gear units with the output shaft pointing downwards can be equipped with a drywell sealing system in addition to the normal seal. The lower bearing of the output shaft is separated from the oil chamber by an installed pipe [1]. The bearing is lubricated with grease and must therefore be relubricated at regular intervals (button head grease fitting DIN 3404 A G1/8). The oil level is lowered below the upper end of the pipe, which means that no oil [2] can escape at this point. To ensure sufficient lubrication of the upper bearings as well as the gearing, all gear units are equipped with a drywell sealing system with pressure lubrication (shaft end pump or motor pump).
