Permitted lubricants

This chapter describes the permitted lubricants and the permitted operating temperatures for industrial gear units of SEW-EURODRIVE.

Observe the following information.

• The oil type and viscosity are selected by SEW-EURODRIVE on an order-specific basis. The information in the order confirmation and on the nameplate are decisive.
• Contact SEW-EURODRIVE in advance when using biological lubricants, food grade lubricants, or polyglycol oils.
• Check the compatibility of the used grease and oil.
• The tables contain only the lubricants approved by SEW‑EURODRIVE.
• Note that oils of the same viscosity class may have different properties depending on the manufacturer. In particular, the minimum permitted oil bath temperatures are manufacturer-specific and listed in the lubricant tables.
• The minimum permitted oil bath temperatures depend on the used method of lubrication. These temperatures are specified in the lubricant tables. The values correspond to the maximum viscosity of the individual lubricants.
• The values specified in the tables correspond to the state at the time of printing. The data of the lubricants is subject to dynamic change by the lubricant manufacturers.
