Valid motor encoders from SEW‑EURODRIVE
The following overview shows the motor encoders that can be used. For information on the respective encoder cables, refer to chapter Prefabricated cables.
Encoder designation | Interface/signal type | Interface on the inverter |
|---|---|---|
A...Z, E..Z | MOVILINK® DDI | X16 |
EI7C-FS | HTL (Functional Safety) | X18 |
EI.C, EK.C, EG.C, ES.C, EV.C | HTL | X20:4, X20:5, X20:6 |
X16 is available only in variant ../DI/..
X18 is available only in variant ../CSL/..
The encoder resolution of incremental encoders influences the control quality of speed and position control:
- A simple, non-dynamic positioning can be implemented with HTL encoders with low resolution (e.g. EI7.). In addition, those encoders allow you to inexpensively check whether the motor is turning. These encoders are insufficient for speed control because increased speed noise is expected, especially at low speeds.
- HTL encoders with higher resolution (e.g. EK.C) are suitable for speed control and positioning. SEW-EURODRIVE recommends an encoder resolution of at least 512 lines per revolution for speed control.
- HTL encoders must be supplied with at least DC 24 V. Observe the connection voltage of the encoder.
