Behavior in case of jam

If material is jammed unintentionally (e.g. in case of tilted material), the controller detects the jam and independently tries to remedy the situation (move clear).

The ZPA logic of the ECC-DFC-24-00 has the following functions to detect a jam:

  • Sensor jam: The conveying zone is in outfeed state and expects the sensor to become vacant. If the sensor remains occupied, after the trigger time has passed, the state is switched to "Sensor jam".
  • No arrival jam: If material is conveyed from an upstream zone to the next zone, the upstream zone expects a confirmation of receipt within a preset time T. If the time is exceeded, the upstream zone signals a "No arrival jam" state. Time T can be set with the timer error tripping time (see chapter Error tripping time).

If a sensor jam is present, the ZPA logic tries to remedy the sensor jam by performing 3 attempts of moving clear. If the cause of the jam cannot be remedied, the state "sensor jam" remains until the cause is removed.
