Leakage currents
During normal operation, leakage currents ≥ 3.5 mA may occur. In order to fulfill EN 61800-5-1, observe the following information:
- The ground connection (PE) must be installed in such a way that it meets the requirements for systems with high leakage currents.
- This usually means
- installing a PE connection cable with a minimum cross section of 10 mm2 (copper conductor)
- or installing a second PE connection cable in parallel to the protective earth.
- According to DIN EN 61800-5-1, the second PE connection is not required if the line connection is equipped with a plug connector for industrial applications (according to IEC 60309) and if the supply system cable has a cross section of
≥2.5 mm2.
