Configuring the data source

To link the visualization elements with the corresponding variables from the IEC project, a data source needs to be configured in the visualization project. The data source is used to read the current variable information from the IEC project on the controller part of the MOVI-C^® CONTROLLER.

When the data source is configured, a basic distinction is made between a network topology with or without a network switch, and thus between a stand-alone system/plant visualization and one that is available via the network. This document describes the configuration using the following system structures which are frequently used in practice:

• Network topology without switch as stand-alone visualization
• The Visualization is run on the Windows part of the MOVI-C^® CONTROLLER and displayed on a connected monitor. The integration of the variables is described by an exported symbol file.
• Network topology with switch as visualization available via the network
• The visualization is called up in a browser on a network device. The variable information is read directly from the communication settings via an active connection to the controller part of the MOVI-C^® CONTROLLER. An additional network switch is used for this connection.
