EU Machinery Regulation

The EU Machinery Regulation (Regulation 2023/1230, "MR") sets special requirements on safety components and machines to protect them from corruption.

The described device integrates safety components that can be used to reduce hazards in machines.

Certain variants of the device are equipped with integrated safety options. In these device variants, safety functions are implemented, for example, through software. Therefore, the requirements for protection against compromise within the machine must be observed for both the device’s non-safety-related functions and its safety functions.

If your device variant is not equipped with these integrated safety options, the safety components are implemented exclusively in electronic form and cannot be compromised in their functionality by software.

Observe the following:

  • Perform a risk assessment and risk minimization of the machine according to ISO 12100.
  • Implement suitable technical and organizational measures to prevent unauthorized access to safety-relevant and non-safety-relevant functions, if their manipulation can lead to a hazard according to the risk assessment (see Potential hazards).

Strictly observe the following documentation:

  • Manual "Cybersecurity for inverters of the MOVI-C® modular automation system – Firmware < V20.00"

Note that additional firmware-specific versions of the referenced documentation will be published in the future. The respective assignment can be identified from the document title.
