Synchronous reluctance motors

The nameplate data of the motor must be entered during the startup of synchronous reluctance motors:

  • Nominal motor speed
  • Nominal motor frequency
  • Nominal motor voltage
  • Nominal motor current
  • Nominal motor power
  • Power factor cos φ
  • Optional:
    • Maximum speed at the motor shaftEstimated during startup, if not specified.
    • Maximum torque at the motor shaftEstimated during startup, if not specified.

For synchronous reluctance motors­, a parameter measurement with FCB 25 must then be performed. The brake is released (if present) during the measurement to align the rotor electrically. Make sure that the rotor can turn freely. For this reason, the motor must be separated from the gear unit or system.

During parameter measurement of synchronous reluctance motors, regenerative operating states may occur. For this reason, it is necessary to connect a braking resistor for parameter measurement.

For synchronous reluctance motors with an encoder, the encoder offset must additionally be set after the above-mentioned startup. This commutation is performed using the "Rotor position identification" function (FCB 18). The rotor turns during the rotor position identification. Make sure that the rotor can turn freely. For this reason, the motor must be separated from the gear unit or system.
