IoT Suite mode

To work in conjunction with the IoT Suite, the software offers the IoT Suite mode. This operating mode automatically adjusts the entire program configuration according to the requirements of the IoT Suite.

The IoT Suite mode is activated via the license dialog window the first time the software is started or via the [Activate license] button in the "License" tab in the "Settings" menu. If IoTSuite mode is activated, the "IoT Suite" tab for preparing and performing IoT Suite synchronization is displayed in the "Tools" menu. INFORMATION: Deactivating the IoT Suite mode does not undo the adjusted program configuration, but simply does not force it further. To reset the configuration, save the current settings before activating the IoT Suite mode. See Data backup.

The IoT Suite mode adjusts the program configuration as follows:

  • Devices are automatically assigned the "Functional location" metadata according to the following template:
    • Prefix for functional location: Deactivated
    • Main part for functional location: Fieldbus name
    • Functional location suffix: Device signature
  • Example: ProfinetName_SignatureName
  • The default endpoint "SEW Default Library Endpoint" is renamed to "IoT Suite Upload Endpoint". The transmission of data to the endpoint is limited to once per minute for parameter containers and once per minute per device for scope containers and cannot be changed. INFORMATION: After the IoT Suite mode is deactivated, the default endpoint is still called "IoT Suite Upload Endpoint".
  • Synchronization with the IoT Suite is set to occur once daily (10 p.m. local time) and cannot be deactivated. In addition, synchronization is always performed directly when a device change is detected.
  • All menus and tabs concerning OPC UA are hidden.
  • During device scanning, the addition of subcomponents is deactivated for all subcomponents by default. If the addition of subcomponents during the device scan is enabled manually, however, a notification is displayed indicating that subcomponents are not supported in the IoT Suite.
  • For endpoints, the option "Compress published data as ZIP archive" is activated. All telemetry and configuration data is thus encrypted and saved as a signed ZIP archive.
  • In the settings, the option "Check data containers for overlapping parameter configurations" is activated.
  • In the settings, the option “If a scope recording does not contain a sufficient number of data points, discard the data packages from Generation B and MOVI-C® scope containers” is activated.
  • In the settings, the "Hide" option is selected as "Action when application is closed".
  • In the settings, the option "Run software when Windows starts" and the background mode are activated.
  • In the settings, the option "Allow managing devices in EtherCAT® configuration mode" is deactivated.
  • In the settings, the option "Disable Generation B scope containers if the MotionStudio scope application is running" is activated.
  • In the settings, the remote upload of log data to the "IoT Suite Upload Endpoint" is activated. "Detail of the log output" is set to "Information".
  • In the settings, "Data analysis" (application types) and the option "Show default application types of SEW-EURODRIVE" are activated.
