With pressure lubrication, a direction-independent shaft end pump supplies all bearing points and gearing outside the oil sump with oil via an internal tube system in the gear unit.

The pump is mounted externally to the gear unit and driven by a coupling from the input shaft or intermediate shaft of the gear unit, which ensures high reliability of the pump function.

Various pump sizes are available. The suitable pump capacity for the respective application is determined by the following factors:

  • Required oil quantity for supplying lubrication points
  • Position of the pump (connected with input shaft or intermediate shaft)
  • Gear unit ratio
  • Speed range of the gear unit

Observe the following information:

  • Proper functioning of the shaft end pump is monitored by means of a connected pressure switch. For details, refer to chapter Pressure switch /PS.
  • With regard to the selection of suitable flow rates, consult SEW‑EURODRIVE. For dimensions, refer to chapter Shaft end pump /SEP.
  • A minimum input speed is necessary for the correct function of the shaft end pump. In case of variable and low input speeds (e.g. with inverter-controlled drives), contact SEW‑EURODRIVE.
