Overview of the safety options

In the device, the STO safety sub-function is always available and can be extended with the following 5 safety options.

  • Safety option MOVISAFE® CSB21A
    • 4 safe single-channel digital inputs or 2 safe two-channel digital inputs
  • The safety option MOVISAFE® CSB21A provides the safety sub-functions STO and SS1-t. The functions can be controlled via safe communication and safe digital inputs.
  • Safety option MOVISAFE® CSB31A
    • 4 safe single-channel digital inputs or 2 safe two-channel digital inputs
    • 2 safe two-channel digital outputs
    • 2nd encoder slot (not used for functional safety)
  • The SBC, STO and SS1-t safety sub-functions are available with the MOVISAFE® CSB31A safety option. The functions can be controlled via safe communication and safe digital inputs. Furthermore, an external encoder can be connected which is evaluated by the inverter.
  • Safety option MOVISAFE® CSS21A
    • 4 safe single-channel digital inputs or 2 safe two-channel digital inputs
    • 2 safe two-channel digital outputs
  • The safety option MOVISAFE® CSS21A provides the safety sub-functions SBC, STO and SS1-t. When a safe motor encoder is being used, the SS1-r, SS2, SOS, SLS, SSM, SSR, SLA, SLI and SDI safety sub-functions and the SBT brake diagnostics are available for motion monitoring. The functions can be controlled via safe communication and safe digital inputs.
  • Safety option MOVISAFE® CSS31A
    • 4 safe single-channel digital inputs or 2 safe two-channel digital inputs
    • 2 safe two-channel digital outputs
    • 2nd encoder slot (not used for functional safety)
  • The safety option MOVISAFE® CSS31A provides the safety sub-functions SBC, STO and SS1-t. When a safe motor encoder is being used, the SS1-r, SS2, SOS, SLS, SSM, SSR, SLA, SLI and SDI safety sub-functions and the SBT brake diagnostics are available for motion monitoring. The functions can be controlled via safe communication and safe digital inputs. Furthermore, an external encoder can be connected which is evaluated by the inverter.
  • Safety option MOVISAFE® CSA31A
    • 4 safe single-channel inputs or 2 safe two-channel inputs
    • 2 safe two-channel outputs
    • 2nd encoder slot (to be used for functional safety)
  • The safety option MOVISAFE® CSA31A provides the safety sub-functions SBC, STO and SS1-t. When a safe encoder system is being used, the SS1-r, SS2, SOS, SLS, SSM, SSR, SLA, SLI, SDI, SCA and SLP safety sub-functions and the SBT brake diagnostics are available for motion and position monitoring. The functions can be controlled via safe communication and safe digital inputs. Furthermore, up to 2 external encoders can be connected, which are evaluated by the inverter and the safety option in addition to the motor encoder.

The PROFIsafe and Safety over EtherCAT® profiles are available for safe communication.

The described safety technology of the device (STO safety sub-function and safety options MOVISAFE® CS..A) has been developed and tested according to the following safety requirements:

  • SIL 3 according to EN 61800-5-2, EN 61508
  • PL e according to EN ISO 13849‑1
  • The device with the integrated STO safety sub-function is suitable for applications according to EN 81-20, chapter 5.9.2.5.4, section d) and chapter 5.9.3.4.2, section d). The STO safety sub-function meets the SIL 3/HFT=1 requirement according to IEC 61800-5-2/61508 and PL e/cat. 3 according to EN ISO 13849.
