Introduction

Devices with integrated safety option support parallel operation of standard and safe communication via a bus system or network. Safe communication is possible via PROFIsafe, Safety over EtherCAT^®, and CIP Safety™.

The safe PROFIsafe communication can be carried out via PROFINET. To that end, the basic device with integrated safety option must be connected to a fail-safe controller (F‑PLC) via PROFINET, or the basic devices with integrated safety option must be connected to a MOVI-C^® CONTROLLER that is connected to a fail-safe controller (F-Host) via PROFINET IO.

Safe FSoE communication can be carried out via EtherCAT^®. To that end, the device in the variant DSI with integrated safety option must be connected to a fail-safe controller (F‑PLC) via EtherCAT^®/SBus^PLUS.

Safe CIP Safety™ communication is possible via EtherNet/IP™. To that end, the basic device with integrated safety option directly via EtherNet/IP must be connected to a fail-safe controller (F-PLC).

To control safety sub-functions and to evaluate the responses from the safety option via PROFIsafe, Safety over EtherCAT^®, or CIP Safety™ take into account the assignment of the individual bits in the F‑process input/output data.
