Motor malfunctions

The following table shows fault diagnostics options for malfunctions of the motor:

Fault

Possible cause

Measure

Motor at standstill, will not start

Motor terminal or function module not active

Set ENABLE signal and activate motor.

Terminal or function module

Overload

Check load and reduce if necessary. Then restart and enable the motor terminal or the function module.

Set ENABLE signal.

Phase interruption in the power supply system or offset motor phases

Check motor terminal, function module, power cable and encoder cable/signal cable.

Replace defective cables.

Short circuit or earth fault in the power cable

Replace defective power cable, then measure and check.

Motor sluggish

Motor terminal or function module not active

Set ENABLE signal and activate motor.
