Motor malfunctions

The following table shows fault diagnostics options for malfunctions of the motor:

Measure

Motor heats up excessively and switches off with an error

Overload

Measure power, use larger motor or reduce load if necessary, check travel profile

Ambient temperature too high

Observe the permitted temperature range

Insufficient cooling

Clean the drive

Running noise on the motor

Bearing damage

  • Contact SEW‑EURODRIVE Service
  • Replace motor

Vibration of the rotating parts

Eliminate the cause, and imbalance, if necessary

Oil leaks at the motor/gear unit connection (only with gearmotors)

Internal seal defective

  • Contact SEW‑EURODRIVE
  • Have internal seal replaced by SEW‑EURODRIVE Service or a specialist trained by SEW‑EURODRIVE
