Batteries offer a higher energy density compared to double-layer capacitors and are usually more cost-effective per stored energy. Batteries ensure a constant power supply for longer periods and are particularly suitable for applications where no short charging and discharging cycles are required.

Batteries are especially suitable for use in narrower temperature ranges and have a lower self-discharge rate than double-layer capacitors. For long cycle times and in unforeseen situations/travel profiles, the use of a battery is useful.
