Errors of Error Class 3 – Application layer

The following error codes of the application layer (ApplicationServices) can be returned in the SPA Error Response message:

Error code 4: Illegal ID

Error: 4.0

Description: Unknown parameter

 

Cause

Measure

The parameter with the specified index, subindex and/or array offset is not supported.

– Check the index, subindex and array offset. Correct the values if necessary.

– Check whether the parameter is available in the current firmware version of the device. Update the firmware, if necessary.

Error code 5: Illegal sequence

Error: 5.0

Description: Communication protocol error

 

Cause

Measure

The communication protocol on the application layer was not adhered to.

– Check the communication parameters and restart transmission.

– If the fault occurs repeatedly, contact SEW‑EURODRIVE Service.

Error code 6: Device in active state

Error: 6.1

Description: Hardware missing

 

Cause

Measure

Hardware component defective or not present.

Replace or add hardware component.

Error: 6.2

Description: Parameter lock active

 

Cause

Measure

Setting parameters is not possible when parameter lock is active.

Deactivate the parameter lock.

Error: 6.3

Description: Configuration state required

 

Cause

Measure

The value could not be written because the device is not in configuration state.

Stop the device and have it enter configuration state.

Error: 6.4

Description: Initialization in progress

 

Cause

Measure

Setting parameters is not possible during initialization.

Wait until initialization is finished.

Error: 6.5

Description: Data Flexibility running

 

Cause

Measure

Setting parameters is not possible when Data Flexibility is active.

Deactivate Data Flexibility.

Error: 6.6

Description: Auto setup active

 

Cause

Measure

Setting parameters is not possible during auto setup.

Wait until auto setup is finished.

Error: 6.8

Description: Hash value calculation running

 

Cause

Measure

Parameters cannot be set during hash value calculation.

Wait until hash value calculation is finished.

Error: 6.9

Description: Data download in progress

 

Cause

Measure

Setting parameters is not possible during data download.

Wait until download is finished.

Error: 6.10

Description: Startup state required

 

Cause

Measure

The value could not be written because the device is not in startup state.

Activate startup state.

Error: 6.11

Description: Standby mode active

 

Cause

Measure

Setting parameters is not possible in standby mode.

End standby mode.

Error: 6.12

Description: Parameter access blocked

 

Cause

Measure

The parameter access is blocked by an active function. The following settings, for example, can prevent parameter access:

– The cam switch is active.

– The parameter can only be set via DIP switch.

– Deactivate the cam switch.

– Set the DIP switch accordingly or deactivate it.

Error code 7: Invalid value

Error: 7.1

Description: Value too great

Measure

Value greater than permitted value range of parameter.

– Adjust the value.

– Check whether the range of values was extended in the current firmware version of the device. Update the firmware, if necessary.

Error: 7.2

Description: Value too small

 

Cause

Measure

The value is smaller than the permitted value range of the parameter.

– Adjust the value.

– Check whether the range of values was extended in the current firmware version of the device. Update the firmware, if necessary.

Error: 7.3

Description: Invalid value

 

Cause

Measure

Value outside permitted value range of parameter.

– Adjust the value.

– Check whether the range of values was extended in the current firmware version of the device. Update the firmware, if necessary.

Error code 8: No authorization

Error: 8.1

Description: Only read access permitted

 

Cause

Measure

The parameter may only be read, not written.

Avoid write access to the parameter.

Error: 8.2

Description: Access denied

 

Cause

Measure

Current permission level not sufficient for requested service.

Increase the permission level or activate expert mode.

Error code 9: Resource not available on server

Error: 9.1

Description: Buffer overflow

 

Cause

Measure

Error accessing memory.

– Switch the device off and on again.

– Acknowledge the fault.

Too many parameters requested for the service.

Request fewer parameters.

Error: 9.2

Description: Wrong data granularity

 

Cause

Measure

Data with the set granularity are not supported.

Transfer data with matching granularity.
